The Murakami Collection

As I mentioned previously, its well worth collecting the books of contemporary authors as their books are, for the most part, available and affordable. For those interested in book collecting, beginning with contemporary authors is the best way to go.

I've lately become interested in the Japanese author Haruki Murakami and after reading two of his novels and his short story collections, I set out to acquire his works in hardback first editions. Here's what I have so far:

A Wild Sheep Chase, by Haruki Murakami, published by Kodansha, 1989. Murakami's first novel.

The Wind-Up Bird CHronicle, by Haruki Murakami, published by Knopf, 1997. The book that cemented Murakami's reputation as a major novelist.

Sputnik Sweetheart, by Haruki Murakami, published by Knopf, 2001.

Kafka On the Shore, by Haruki Murakami, published by Knopf, 2005.
