Bloomsday

Today is Bloomsday, 16 June, the day the events of James Joyce's novel Ulysses take place. Traditionally, one is supposed to drink vast amounts of Guinness and read passages from Ulysses ... but why limit yourself? You could also read selections from Portrait of the Artist As a Young Man, his poems Chamber Music, scenes from his play Exiles or extracts from the seemingly impenetrable Finnegan's Wake.
